Description

The talk will focus on the initiative of GNOME Nepal to help students in Nepal start with Ubuntu. The use of Ubuntu will eventually help the use of GNOME among these students. We provide sessions and training on the combined use of Ubuntu and GNOME to the students at colleges and schools. Also, the talk will focus on the use of the community to encourage newcomers into the open source.

What audience can learn

How communities can encourage students to use open source technologies such as Ubuntu for their normal day-to-day usage. The challenges a community faces in conducting such sessions and training and possible solutions.

Biography

I am a student and a software developer working on open-source ERP frameworks. I introduce myself as an Open source advocate and a community builder. The GNOME Asia Summit 2023 Nepal team was led by me. Currently, I am leading GNOME Nepal initiatives with the combined help of other open-source communities active in Nepal.

Summary

The session will focus on the community's efforts to encourage students in colleges and schools to be introduced to Ubuntu and its implementations. The challenges and solutions of such initiatives will be discussed. The impacts of such sessions will also be discussed.
